New: The Houses of Healing eLearning Program

This tablet-based course offers participants a self-paced, interactive learning experience that fosters behavioral change, emotional healing, and successful prison rehabilitation and reentry.

For more than 25 years, Houses of Healing (HOH) has transformed the face of programming in jails and prisons throughout the United States as one of the top rehabilitation programs in the US. This research-driven, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness-based, social-emotional learning curriculum is designed to equip incarcerated individuals with the tools they need to effectively manage their emotions, explore and heal unresolved trauma, take responsibility for victim-offender impact, change patterns of violence and addiction, and build the skills to live productive and dignified lives.

Now, we are thrilled to offer this life-changing rehabilitation program as an online course accessible on Edovo Plus, with expansions to other platforms coming soon. This eLearning Program is currently only available for purchase by institutions and not by individuals. While this eLearning course was designed to be used as a standalone program, it can also serve as a powerful addition to in-person Houses of Healing Programs.

What People are Saying About the Houses of Healing Rehabilitation Program

25+ Years of Transformative Prison Rehabilitation

Since 1992, The Lionheart Foundation has created life-altering social and emotional programming for some of our nation’s most underserved populations. After 7 years of working with incarcerated individuals in Massachusetts, Lionheart published the book Houses of Healing: A Prisoner’s Guide to Inner Power and Freedom to give prisoners throughout the United States a powerful rehabilitative resource to help them address histories of trauma, interrupt lifelong patterns of violence and addiction, and learn critical social and emotional skills to build productive lives.

The Houses of Healing Program has had a life changing impact for thousands of the men and women across the country involved in the criminal justice system. An integral part of prison programming in the United States, with over 200,000 copies in circulation in both English and Spanish, substance abuse and mental health counselors, educators, chaplains, administrators, volunteers and prisoners praise the positive impact of this rehabilitation program. Lionheart is committed to reducing recidivism and playing an integral part in redefining our nation's prisons as places for healing and growth.

Lionheart has been awarded 8 major grants from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) to disseminate and evaluate the Houses of Healing Program to their population, including multiple “Innovative Grants,” Rehabilitative Investment Grants for Healing and Transformation (RIGHT), and Victim Impact (VI) Grants.

Houses of Healing has been translated into five languages and has transformed the face of prison programming in many states with counselors, educators, chaplains, administrators, community volunteers, and incarcerated people praising its positive impact. As a result of the support from DOCs and donors, Lionheart has provided the Making Time Count self-study program to more than 900 people in solitary confinement. It is one of the few programs that has been offered on San Quentin’s Death Row.
