Power Source Professional Training and Consultation

Professional Training

Lionheart offers a one-day Training to the Power Source Program, which can be tailored to the needs of your agency and staff. In this training, participants can expect:

  • A full overview of the PS program;
  • A new synthesis of theory, practical skills, and inspiration;
  • Suggestions for facilitation and engagement based on your specific population and needs;
  • Practice leading exercises to promote emotional growth with highly at-risk youth;
  • Approaches for integrating aspects of the Power Source program into individual, group, and agency work;
  • An overview of meditation and its role in the PS program, including ways to develop your own meditation practice.

The one-day Training for Professionals in the Power Source Program is facilitated by Jess Linick, PhD, Director of Youth Services for the Lionheart Foundation and co-author of the Power Source Facilitator Manual. Dr. Linick is a licensed clinical psychologist, and has over twelve years’ experience providing mental health services to children, adolescents, adults, and families within schools, outpatient, inpatient, and forensic settings. Working almost exclusively with justice- and child welfare-involved populations for the past 10 years, Dr. Linick has been a strong advocate for bringing trauma-informed care into criminal and juvenile justice spheres. She previously was a Clinical Supervisor at Rikers Island, New York City’s largest jail complex, serving adults with severe mental illness, and served on the original NIH-funded Power Source study at Rikers Island from 2008-2011. Prior to Lionheart, she was the Supervising Psychologist in NYC’s juvenile detention centers. Dr. Linick also has expertise in bringing mindfulness and meditation practices to at-risk youth.
