Lionheart received its 10th grant from the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, marking a decade of partnership in bringing transformative programming behind the walls of California’s prisons.
This funding will make the Houses of Healing Complete eLearning Program – a 25-hour comprehensive step-by-step guide through the Houses of Healing (HOH) Program – available on all 90,000 CDCR tablets system-wide, putting this transformative content in the hands of incarcerated people across California.
Additionally, Lionheart will offer numerous in-person 14-session Houses of Healing Circle Programs in two CDCR institutions. Through weekly HOH Circles, this grant offering will introduce and immerse participants in the Circle model for processing the program content and personal insights in the context of a dynamic group process. In this way participants not only have the essential skills and insights for healing and transformation reinforced – they build the capacity to support one another, creating ripples of healing that extend far beyond the program itself.

With the HOH eLearning Program on all CDCR tablets and the new HOH Circle Keeper’s Guide, participants who are mature and drawn to supporting others with this format will, with the approval of their warden, have everything needed to facilitate HOH Circles within their institution in the future. The program offers all participants the opportunity to establish or further themselves on a positive life trajectory.
